If you need root canal treatment, you may be feeling a little apprehensive. Fortunately, with the modern approach we take at Creekside Endodontics, there’s no need for concern. Before your root canal, we will arm you with the knowledge you need, and ask you about your worries and expectations surrounding your procedure.
Knowledge is Power
We want to educate you before your root canal. First and foremost, you will be happy to know that root canal treatment doesn’t cause pain–it relieves it. Root canal therapy protects the tooth, and it doesn’t have to be any more painful than any other dental procedure.
Root canal therapy involves removing the pulp of the tooth. The pulp is a collection of blood vessels, nerves, and connective tissues. While it provides sensation to the tooth, it is not necessary to the function of the tooth.
When the pulp becomes infected, it can affect the rest of your smile, and even your overall health. Dr. Stubbs will gently remove the pulp and clean out the tooth during a root canal, while using local anesthesia to keep you comfortable from beginning to end.
Your First Appointment
Our endodontist has completed additional years of advanced residency training on top of dental school, so he is thoroughly prepared to treat an infected tooth. Dr. Stubbs can save your natural tooth with a comfortable root canal.
At your first appointment, Dr. Stubbs will conduct a thorough examination and ask you about your health history. He will take digital x-rays of the area to find out if the pulp is indeed infected.
If you are nervous, our caring dentist will discuss your sedation options with you. Oral conscious sedation, nitrous oxide, or IV sedation can help you feel entirely relaxed during your procedure. Dr. Stubbs will provide you with instructions for before and after your procedure, and answer any questions you may have.
We will prepare everything you need before your scheduled appointment, including dental insurance information, x-rays, and sedatives. Your root canal treatment should not be a source of stress in your life.
