Sedation Dentistry in Lone Tree, CO

Dentist performing sedation

Many people avoid going to the dentist because they feel anxious about the dentist’s chair. For people who want stress-free root canal procedures, Creekside Endodontics delivers sedation dentistry in Lone Tree, Highlands Ranch, Littleton, Englewood, and other areas in Colorado.

What Is Sedation Dentistry?

If the thought of visiting the dentist and undergoing a dental procedure makes you feel anxious or queasy, consider sedation dentistry. We help patients relax during dental procedures — from something as simple as routine cleaning to something more serious like root canal procedures.

Creekside Endodontics provides sedation dentistry in Colorado to help our patients feel more relaxed during root canals. Sedation is appropriate for people who have a real fear of the dentist as well as for those who have low pain tolerance, a bad gag reflex, or very sensitive teeth.

What Type of Sedation Best Suits You?

Laughing gas is a mild form of dental sedation. This safe and effective sedative keeps you relaxed and conscious during the procedure.

For oral sedation, you take a safe sedative prior to your dental appointment or root canal procedure. Like laughing gas, it is a form of conscious sedation dentistry.

Intravenous (IV) sedation is a safe and effective treatment that injects a sedative directly into your vein. Although you won’t feel pain, you’ll stay awake during the procedure.

How Does Sedation Dentistry Work?

Creekside Endodontics provides three types of dental sedation: laughing gas, oral sedation, and IV sedation. The procedure for each one is different.

With laughing gas, you inhale the gas through a small mask. You don’t have to worry about whether you are inhaling too much of the substance because our dentist will closely monitor your condition. Once you feel relaxed enough, we will proceed with the endodontic treatment.

In oral sedation, you swallow an oral sedative drug to reduce your fear and anxiety related to the dentist chair. You can take the sedative pill an hour before your appointment and the effects will last until after the procedure. Depending on the drug administered, the effects may last anytime between 2 to 8 hours.

In IV sedation, we administer the sedative by injecting it directly into your vein. It is a safe and effective treatment administered by a professional, so you have no reason to worry!

Who Needs Sedation Dentistry?

Dental sedation is a great solution for people who feel scared, nervous, or anxious at the mere thought of visiting the dentist. It relaxes patients and lets the dental procedure flow smoothly. You may inquire about sedation if you fall under any of these categories:

  • You have a genuine fear of the dentist.

  • Your pain tolerance level is low.

  • Your teeth are very sensitive.

  • Your gag reflex is bad.

  • You can’t sit still in the dentist’s chair.

  • You need to undergo a lot of dental work.

Dentists may also administer a conservative dose of laughing gas for children who are afraid of the dentist or who refuse to cooperate during a dental appointment. This way, we do not cause more dental anxiety or traumatize the child.
